(PRAGUE, CZECH REPUBLIC) Armenia’s links to Noah and to the biblical Mt. Ararat are the leading cover feature this month in “Review,” the in-flight magazine of Czech Airlines.
According to the magazine story, which spans eight pages, “it’s hard to get Noah and his ark out of your mind when visiting Armenia.” The story is illustrated with photographs of the monastery of Khor Virap, an ancient khatchkar, Echmiadzin, and, of course, Mt. Ararat.
Author-photographers Matthew Karanian and Robert Kurkjian wrote the story—which appears in both English and in Czech—and created the photographs. Karanian and Kurkjian are co-authors of the newly-released travel guide, “The Stone Garden Guide: Armenia and Karabagh, Second Edition.”
Major magazine coverage such as this, says Karanian, “helps expand Armenian tourism and helps the nation’s economy grow.” The magazine is distributed free to everyone who flies on Czech Airlines during the months of September and October, and has an audience of tens of thousands.
“The Stone Garden Guide: Armenia and Karabagh” is available from independent booksellers and from online merchants such as Amazon.com. The book is also available directly from the publisher for $29.95 postpaid in the US. Check to: Stone Garden Productions; PO Box 7758; Northridge, CA 91327.
