Out of Stone is a masterpiece of photography that portrays Armenia in a vibrant light. Never before has this tiny nation been portrayed so vividly and passionately by such talented photographers.

DESCRIPTION

Out of Stone is an oversized hardcover edition with 184 pages and 150 images. The book is printed on the finest archival quality paper that is available. The binding is durably sewn for a lifetime of use. And the images were printed in the USA on a state of the art waterless press, resulting in spectacular clarity and color.

The photographs are a mixture of old-world Armenian churches and monuments and portraits of the young and old. The majestic and sometimes stark landscape of Armenia and of Karabagh is also featured. There is also a collection of poetry by Armenian authors, most of which is translated into English. There's also some introductory text and captions at the back of the book, but otherwise there is very little writing to distract your eyes from the photographs.

NOTE FROM THE PUBLISHER

Out of Stone is a book that truly needed to be published. The world has heard much about the tragic history of this ancient nation. But Out of Stone portrays the timeless beauty of Armenia in a way that hasn't been done before. Out of Stone actually celebrates Armenia. And this book does so in a way that almost compels one to visit this distant land.

It accomplishes this through page after page of vivid color images of landscapes, cultural monuments and portraits. The landscapes depict the majesty of the country. The cultural monuments demonstrate its antiquity. And the portraits suggest that the photographers truly loved their subjects. Out of Stone is the first, and currently still the only published collection of photographs that looks to the future with such hope and optimism.
